ZAR ELECTRIK

ZAR ELECTRIK

“At the heart of Zar Electrik’s music, dance reigns supreme, experienced like a transcendental, liberating rite” (Nova, 2023). Free-spirited, even joyfully defiant, the trio out of Marseille incorporate the oud, the guembri and electric kora with synths, plucking from each of these instruments all the hypnotic power they possess. Gnawa music, sub-Saharan melodies and electronic sounds all intersect, to provide a cosmopolitan rhythmic experience that transcends geographic borders, taking fans to that feel-good place that is nowhere and everywhere all at once! Hawa, the group’s debut album released in 2023, is an invitation to join in and celebrate!
