Pimp your show : From better rehearsals to better shows

To stand out professionally, the artist must provide a memorable experience to his audience. After a discussion on the key elements of preparing a show, you will attend a live demonstration: A group will play the game of a coaching session in front of an audience in order to directly put into practice the theoretical concepts discussed previously.

Going on stage is an enormous privilege. To stand out professionally, artists must give their audience a memorable experience.  Do you want to achieve this mission? What’s your plan?

This workshop aims to help artists surpass themselves in certain aspects of their practice and will address these four main themes:

1. The performance as a way to build an audience: The artist’s mission on stage

2. Preparation: envisioning your show, defining goals, creating memorable moments, and preparing your setlist.

3. The rehearsal as a space for creation: planning your rehearsals, trying new arrangements for the stage while using the music to propel the artist

4. Practical demonstration in front of an audience: An artist will be coached live in front of an audience as we put into practice some theoretical concepts.

BIOGRAPHY

OLIVIER LAROCHE

Olivier Laroche is well-versed in music, arts and communications. For 25 years, as a bassist, he played with various artists from all horizons, backgrounds, and musical genres. He also studied Acting at Collège Lionel-Groulx and holds a bachelor’s degree in Film Studies from Concordia University. 

From 1997 to 2001, he worked for the cultural weeklies ICI Montréal and Montreal Mirror. Between 2002 and 2013, he hosted TV shows for Canal Évasion, Télé-Québec and TV5. From 2018 to 2021, he worked as a booking agent at ZINC Productions, allowing him better to understand the needs of event and festival promoters. Today, using all this experience, he works as an advisor helping bands and singers who wish to bring their songs to life before an audience. He helps them confidently take the stage, thanks to a unique creative proposal and a strategy to gain new fans. In short, he can “Pimp your show”.
