MONEKA ARABIC JAZZ

MONEKA ARABIC JAZZ

Sun setting over the Tigris River with a heat haze blurring the horizon. From the very first notes, Moneka Arabic Jazz transports us to the Middle East, immerses us in its rich cultural heritage and complex yet fascinating history, but never pulls the shades down on its current challenges while promoting justice, love, freedom, peace and acceptance – full of humanity.  At the intersection of world cultures and drawing from founder Ahmed Moneka’s Kenyan and Iraqi roots, Moneka Arabik Jazz combines sax, clarinet, guitars, bass and oud, and integrates the melodic scale of the Arabic maqam with a touch of jazz, funk, hip-hop and reggae.
