You can’t talk about the Montreal electronic music scene without referring to Poirier. “He doesn’t need to reinvent the wheel for people to notice—yet again—that he is one of the most curious and intuitive architects of sound, gifted with an irrefutable sense of groove” (La Presse, 2022). His latest EP, Momentum, is a succession of rhythms free of superficial embellishments—Afrobeat, Afro-House and Konpa—propelled by a metronomic bass groove. Poirier’s music has the power to connect people through that irresistible urge to dance. It is not for nothing that his popularity transcends all borders.
