Jab Djab is a Montreal-based tropical band made up of three musicians originally from Trinidad and Tobago. Pioneers of world music in Montreal, they are hot, hot, hot, just like the Merrymen hit that sits at the top of their repertoire. Their music capers from one Caribbean island to another, with a touch of American pop. Like the Jab, a teasing devil and carnival character from the Caribbean, they are entertainers. Their sound is always energetic and colorful. Dynamic, generous, playful and explosive, Jab Djab, whose music has been used in cult TV shows like Ugly Betty and Murder She Wrote, serves up a hearty menu of calypso, soca and frenetic reggae. Their latest album, Spirit Move Ya, was released in late 2021.
Joining them for this unique concert is Mello G, a veteran of the Montreal reggae scene. This singer’s warm, smooth voice, reminiscent of Barry White’s, adds a typical touch of reggae melodies of incomparable warmth.
