DJELY TAPA

Winner of two JUNO Awards, singer-songwriter Djely Tapa will be performing her album release concert to present her new opus Dankoroba on Saturday 19 October 2024 at National. This exceptional show will bring special guests on stage to present the new album and its twelve compositions, unified by sisterhood, power, transmission, courage and intuition. Descended from an illustrious family of griots, Djely Tapa’s opus propels Malian traditions into cosmic, Afro-futuristic and electronic dimensions.
This concert will present her new project, sublimating the traditional calabash and ngoni with finesse through hypnotic guitar arrangements and electronic rhythmic layers. Djely Tapa pays tribute to the cultural heritage of the Sumusu, nine remarkable women, including her ancestor, Kiligna Mandé Kouyaté. Produced by Jean Massicotte (Patrick Watson, Lhasa de Sela, Arthur H) and driven by Djely Tapa’s deep and powerful voice, Dankoroba celebrates the power of individuals to positively shape the world.
