Boubé, playing his brand of the central Saharan rhythms of nomadic Berber people, literally beguiled the audience at the latest edition of Syli d’or de la musique du monde, where he took second place. Boubé’s delivers something that “no one else on Montreal’s music scene offers: genuine desert blues” (Le Devoir, 2024). The singer-songwriter and composer, whose music includes acoustic and electric guitar and a range of drums, has collaborated with both Bombino and Mdou Moctar, the most respected figures of Tuareg music. In 2023, he released Issaktan, a blend of meditative melodies and rock.
