BLAISE LABAMBA and KOTAKOLI

Blaise Labamba, born in Congo-Kinshasa, grew up immersed in African music, learning piano, guitar, and percussion. After studying in Kinshasa, he joined the Big Star orchestra and toured across Africa. Living in Montreal since 1999, he played with various groups before starting his solo career in 2009. In 2018, he formed Kotakoli, blending Congolese rumba and soukous, and stood out at the Syli d’Or World Music competition.
