ATHENEA Y SU CANDELA

Athenea Y Su Candela is a pet project of the young Cuban-born singer-songwriter and dancer, Mélanie Fowler (aka Athenea), who also leads Q’bolà Orchestra, an ensemble that covers classics from the Spanish-language repertoire and American pop. With her group Athena Y Su Candela, she lets loose her creativity and tackles themes close to her heart, such as the challenge of integrating, which she experienced in her late teens. And yet, Athenea Y Su Candela’s message is far from sad. Amplified by an exuberant stage presence that she has been cultivating from an early age, her mix of 70s Latin music and pop influences, Cuban rhythms and Mexican harmonies, is an invitation to celebrate and dance.
