AKWABA TRIO

Akwaba, meaning ‘Welcome’ in the Akan language, is the name of this Montreal-based musical trio. The trio is made up of multi-instrumentalist Gotta Lago (Côte d’Ivoire), Manu Pélé (Côte d’Ivoire) on bass and Khalil Che (Algeria) on Cajon. The trio’s aim is to get off the beaten track with an original and authentic repertoire, revisiting classic songs that have marked them through the ages and lulled them to sleep.
