BIOGRAPHY

A cascade of Cuban melodies for pure listening pleasure. This warm, versatile musician, based in Montreal since 2003, is also shrewd, sniffing out any collaboration that can match his creativity. Many a Montreal musician has benefitted from his broad musical experience, including Florence K., Mario Pelchat, La Bottine Souriante, Bran Van 3000 and Karl Wolfe. A ready improviser, he will joyfully set his rhythm to Gloria Estevan’s percussionist, Edwin Bonilla, for example. Yordan Marinez is also known through The Cuban Martinez Show (TCMS), which he created in 2008. Composer, arranger and trombonist, Martinez creates charming, festive serenades, proof that his Cienfuegos blood runs deep.

In the year 2000, Martinez joined Klimax, led by renowned percussionist, Giraldo Piloto, a richly creative period with the album Klimax and Friends that featured pianist Chucho Valdés and equally fantastic percussionist Jose Luis Quintana aka Changuito, both Grammy Award winners. Festivals across Europe opened their doors to Yordan “Trombón” Martinez … a great moment for Latin music.
