After only two albums and an EP, this hip band has already risen high on the world music charts. The Bongo Hop’s brass sound has taken the airways by storm with catchy tunes like “Agua Fria,” “La Carga,” and “’Tite Jeanne.” Heard on France Inter, BBC6, Radio Nova, Worldwide Radio and Radio-Canada, fans can’t get enough. A masterstroke for French trumpet player and composer, Étienne Sevet, and his band mates, Nidia, Kephny, Paulo, Voilaaa and Greg, who are passionate about Caribbean and South American harmonies and absolutely mad about African funk and Afrobeat.

The adventure undertaken by this band can be traced back to the eight years that Sevet spent in Columbia. And Cali is a city that serves up a daily musical feast of Afro-Caribbean flavours and life’s perfume that permeated through the group like the tropical tunes. But for this Bongo family, the emphasis is on eclecticism with an African touch. So, let’s shake it up and grab a big glass of Afro-electro-jazz!
