A hint of Whitney Houston and Miriam Makeba along with a satin-like quality can be heard in the voice of this marvellous singer from the Democratic Republic of Congo. As a child, Naxx Bitotat’s world included both popular and classical music. Even then she was aware of the creative destiny forming within her, culminating in a talent for singing and songwriting. Driven by an inner spark, she spontaneously applies words to the song of life, of passion. She loves Central African rhythms in all their variations. Last year’s album, Kuetu, which means “home” in the Luba-Kasai language, seduces the listener with Congolese melodies and a fresh Afropop sound. Undeterred by taboos, she doesn’t hesitate to express her thoughts on the harms that racism causes and her personal experiences, both good and difficult.  

Since 2018, Naxx has adopted the Balattou stage to create her own show with four distinct concerts in the “Rythmes au féminin” Series. At the end of 2022, she took on a personal challenge of performing at MTelus, opening for Yemi Alade, no less! A dream come true… now nothing can get in the way of this genuine and extremely generous artist who astounds her audiences from here to Tanzania. The promise a Mutuashi, ready for the adventure.
