BIOGRAPHIE

If ever a word were to fit Mateo like a glove, it would be “Tanto” (so much), which is also the title of his latest single, a reverential ode to life produced in collaboration with the YNG LGNDZ collective, Québec’s first Latino label. Chosen “Révélation Radio-Canada 2020–2021” in the “World Music” category, this Montreal artist doesn’t simply carry the spirit of Latin America and his native Colombia in his songs. He peppers his music with rock, salsa, pop, as well as alternative influences to create his own musical style. The destiny of this young man, recognized in music hubs like Cuba as he is here in Canada, has been confirmed by the credo, “everything for the music,” his since the dawn of his twenties. In fact, his artistic maturity is said to be a divine gift…

Nominated “Singer of the Year” for the 2020 Canada Latin Awards, Mateo pens lyrics and melodies to last through history. And his own, as a creature enamoured by the grace and heady feeling of freedom, which he expresses on Vengo de frente, a mini-album that rose to the heights of critical acclaim. A little bit crazy, somewhat of a castaway, and very much a chameleon, this rising star is on the way to becoming an international sensation, up there with Ricky Martin and Marc Anthony. A real breath of fresh air for those hot summer evenings!
