BIOGRAPHY

What will the Congo’s music sound like in the future? If you were to pick a single voice to represent the nation’s rise and evolving vibe of Afrofuturism, it would be that of Kizaba! Increasingly in the spotlight, this Révélation Radio-Canada 2024–2025 artist, who fully embraces his musical roots for his immortality while dressing for the 22nd century, is absolutely in a class of his own. Nominated for the Juno’s Global Music Album of the Year in 2024, Kizavibe has earned him praise for his art and musical style. And if he has legions of fans, from here to across the African continent, it is because the creative singer-songwriter is also an impressive multi-instrumentalist.

Insatiable adventurer on a musical fusion quest,  Lionel KIZABA has formed alliances around the globe. While he sings in French and English of his bold vision for tomorrow’s world, he also freely draws from the Kikongo and Lingala languages of his youth. But to experience his fiery spirit, there is nothing quite like seeing him perform live on stage, right here on the dreamlike border between Kinshasa and Boulevard Saint-Laurent. Like a one-man band, he is able to lift up his inventive Afro-Congolese electro rhythm for which he holds the musical key.
