BIOGRAPHIE

Révélation Radio-Canada and a spirited performer, Joyce N’Sana blends reggae, gospel, hip-hop, jazz and Afro-blues into what she calls Afrobluehop, a rousing fusion with deep roots in Congolese musical traditions, to deliver her message with her powerful, soulful voice.

Joyce N’Sana’s deep, soulful voice caresses her words with a message of peace. Her music, which she calls Afrobluehop, combines reggae, gospel, hip-hop and jazz in English, Lingala, Lari and Creole. The singer-songwriter grew up in the context of the Congolese wars. She delivers a clear and determined message and propagates an art of peace. A small woman with a big voice, her music is a tasty mix of Afro-blues and hip-hop, combined with her feminine reggae. No one remains indifferent to her incredible stage presence. She makes the audience live a roller coaster of emotions, as much by her music with its catchy rhythms, as by her voice which straddles softness and raucous rises. Joyce N’sana is embarking on the creation of a new show that is nourished by artistic encounters, notably with the arranger-producer Fred Hirschy of the Karantaba Records label who has worked with artists such as Daara J Family, Awadi, Fredy Massamba or Noumoucounda. If Joyce N’sana wins many awards in recent years, it is not by chance. The Congolese-Quebecer released her first EP in March 2016 and remained #1 in Canada all summer in the World category of the Earshot ranking. Her Ep was named «World Music Album of the Year» by CJLO radio. In 2017, she made an appearance on «La Voix» and won the Montreal finals of Landmark Events Showcase 2018. She is a finalist in the Vitrines XP 2019 and has been elected in 2022 as Radio-Canada revelation in World Music.
