Degg J Force 3 (“the truth force 3” in Wolof, the three forces being the right, the good and the true) is a group founded in 1997 in the township of Kaloum in Conakry, Guinea, by the two brothers Moussa M’Baye and Ablaya M’Baye (aka Skandal) and Moussa Camara (aka 2pac).

Between afro-rap, afro-reggae and dancehall, the trio is distinguished by its political and social commitment. They raise awareness through the themes they address, while drawing their inspiration from the rich culture of the African continent.

In 1999, they won a prize in a young talent contest with their song “Cri du cœur”, which allowed them to attract attention and be asked to perform in concerts. They won prestigious awards at the Djembé d’or and K7 d’or. In 2004, they founded the SARL Degg J Force 3 Bankhi, which includes a label (Meurs Libre Prod), a structure dedicated to the organization of concerts and international tours (Urban Afreeka), and sound and audiovisual production studios (Mach Allah Studios).

During the 2000s, the group multiplied fruitful collaborations: with the Guinean afro-rap group Silatigui (on the single Des hauts et des bas, Best Guinean hip-hop album at the K7 d’or), or with the reggaeman Takana Zion (on the single Levez le rideau). In 2009, they launched their album Reste indépendant, in which they call on young Africans to defend their freedom of expression and to take hold of the future of Africa. For this album, which skillfully mixes traditional sounds and hip-hop, they once again won the award for best album at the K7 d’or. Afterwards, the group underwent a change with the departure of Moussa Camara. But the M’Baye brothers continue the adventure.

They have now become leading musicians on the Guinean scene, but they still take the time to fight against Aids and, through their humanitarian association “7ème continent”, to collect funds to help distribute medical equipment in Guinea and Benin.
