The winner of the Juno Award for Best Blues Album in 2020 for Mad Love, with her perfectly controlled voice and fabulous stage presence, has been offering eclectic, emotional Blues for more than two decades, mixed with Jazz, Soul, Rock, R&B, Swing, Folk and Gospel.
Award-winning Montreal-based singer-songwriter Dawn Tyler Watson has earned her place among the international blues elite. Her fiery stage presence and soul-stirring performances have earned her national and global recognition.
The artist recently won two Maple Blues Awards – Songwriter of the Year and Best Album/Producer. She was also nominated by the Blues Foundation of Memphis for the 2020 Blues Music Award for Female Vocalist of the Year, alongside greats like Curtis Salgado and Mavis Staples. Her latest release, “Mad Love,” received the 2020 JUNO Award for Blues Album of the Year!
Born in England and raised in Ontario, she moved to Montreal after graduating from Concordia University with a B.A. in Jazz Studies and Theatre. She began playing the blues after being invited to participate in a local blues compilation. Since teaming up with a seven-piece powerhouse band led by award-winning guitarist Ben Racine, Watson’s star has continued to rise. After winning first place at the 2017 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, she brings magical moments to the stage and shares her expressive voice on four continents with performances that truly touch the spirit. Now, with a sound infused with jazz, soul, rock and gospel, Watson is pushing the boundaries of traditional blues.
