BIOGRAPHY

Montreal’s Le Devoir describes this rhythmic techno wave of diversity as “The Pot Luck of Afro club music!” But what’s behind this innovative Club launched by the Moonshine collective? To answer that, we need to look back to 2004, to Canadian-Congolese 360 artist Pierre Kwenders and two live wires, Canadian-Haitian DJ San Farafina and Hervé “Coltan”  Kalongo. In addition to being part of the lunar star, Farafina is director of Club Sagacité, a new creative space located in Montreal’s Parc-Ex neighbourhood that welcomes artists from of African descent or visible minorities looking for a community with whom they can connect and a place where they are free to express themselves. Sagacité, or sagacity, is the universality of Africa’s pulse with its coupé-décalé, ampiano, and batida—an Afro-European expression—and so much more!

In sync with nightlife and international cities, Moonshine’s shows strive to connect Montreal with Paris, Abidjan, Kinshasa, London … Ideal occasions to savour afro-electro within a global melting pot. For this Festival International Nuits d’Afrique, San Sarafina will be handing over the mic to three new sensations for whom she is the inspiration, a mentor of sorts: Mopao Mumu, a hot, new Congolese voice who will take the stage for 15 minutes, followed by Ms Baby and Fanella who will also showcase their talents.
