Discovered at the 2024 Syli d’or de la musique du monde competition, this charismatic, multifaceted artist won Silver hands down. His electric guitar playing on a bluesy backdrop is enough to blow anyone away. In Niger, it’s what they call desert blues. A native of that immense African country, Boubé was quick to grasp the importance of music as integral to the identity of his people, the Tuareg. At Iferouan, an oasis town and major festival hub for his culture in the Agadez region, the budding artist was seized by the power of song and guitar, and he devoted himself to music religiously, body and soul.

Boubé is gifted many times over, be it with a mic, on guitar or on drums. In addition to writing his own scores, he delivers his songs on his debut album Issaktan with impressive intensity. From the gentleness of his pacifist sentiments, the Nigerien lingers on the bonds of friendship and fraternity, moving up the scale with this special kind of desert rock, following in the footsteps of Tinariwe and Bombino. With sixteen years into music and plenty of energy to spare, he’s ready to take off from the international launch pad at full speed.
