ANDY RUBAL

With a Latin Lover kind of smouldering gaze and a huge smile, Andy Rubal is disarmingly charming. He had already conquered Cuba when he was just a child, performing with Baby Salsa along with two sons of the group’s founder, Ruben de Jesus Rodriguez of the famous Cuban salsa band Son14. Since then, this singer-songwriter, composer, arranger and pianist, graduate of the prestigious Instituto Superior de Arte de La Habana, has worked with leading Cuban musicians such as Waldo Mendoza, Orlando “Maraca” Valle, Raul Paz and Juan Guillermo Almeida. Rubal’s first album, El que Busca Encuentra, was released under the Cuba’s national record label, EGREM. Inspired by the trovadores of Santiago de Cuba, his music incorporates salsa, timba, Pilón and other musical genres with smooth crooner style, as can be heard on his recent collaborations with Boogát and Florence K. His EP, 75°, the first to be produced entirely in Canada, was released in May 2022.
