Their name touches the hearts of calypso fans, from Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago’s capital, to Montreal and across Canada. Led by the outstanding Trinidadian-Canadian singer-songwriter, Drew Gonsalves, the band has already been honoured with a Juno Award and their upward momentum continues. As a leading Caribbean band, Kobo Town brings this musical legacy to its highest form of expression. Incorporating dancehall, reggae, ska arrangements and including the trombone, the music becomes a cornucopia of aromas and colour that arouse the senses. Poetry and rhythm delivered across the globe to fans that just can’t get enough of it.

Kobo Town captivates audiences with its unique ska sound that introduces a new kind of calypso. From Jamaica to the U.K., Italy to Malaysia, their fans are there for them and the numbers are only growing. Their every show catapults calypso even further into the future, to live on for centuries to come. Their popular Caribbean music gets people dancing in a purely energizing experience as the band explores 500 years of Trinidadian history throughout which calypso has represented an act of resistance; out of the shadow and into the glorious light!

On their 2017 album Where the Galleon Sank, just like their most recent, Carnival of the Ghosts, the band’s members signed a pact to honour the calypso tradition by redefining it with an irresistible zest, part of Gonslaves’ own creative journey through his writing style and understanding of culture trends. Calypso remains fresh and dashing thanks to its timelessness, constantly rekindled with the input of global influences. From jazz to funk to disco, for the quartet, it’s calypso forever, without ever losing a beat! From jazz to funk to disco, for the quartet, it’s calypso forever, without ever losing a beat!
