Inspired by both the traditional and frenetic samba and cool jazz, popularized in the 1950s by Miles Davis, the enveloping and hushed Bossa Nova conquered the hearts of Brazilians before imposing itself worldwide as a musical tsunami (J-P Delfino, “Bossa Nova. La grande aventure du Brésil”, Éditions Le Passage, 2017). 

Jean-François Léger pays tribute to Bossa Nova by interpreting its great hits, from classics in Portuguese to French bossas by Pierre Barouh, George Moustaki and Diane Tell.

Since its creation, 50 Years of Bossa Nova is still on the road, surrounded by a solid team composed of François Marion (La Bottine Souriante) on double bass, Michel Dupire on percussion, a true reference of Brazilian music, the show delights spectators everywhere it goes, making them rediscover the classics of Brazilian music, but also telling the tremendous adventure of this music that was both the standard-bearer and the witness of a real cultural revolution.
